Angeal realizes his enemies are those that threaten the Planet. Realizing that whatever it was Hollander exposed his mother, whatever it is within his body that makes him not truly a human being is against the natural order of things, he wishes to be destroyed. Not to be cruel, but Jenova isn't exactly a welcomed visitor for the Planet. I wonder if Angeal begins to doubt his ability to maintain his self control. his childhood friend is consumed by the desire for vengeance and will stop at nothing to end his deterioration. And although Angeal wasn't there to witnesses it, even Sephiroth goes mad and power hungry, wanting godlike power, once he discovers what he is. At any rate, he summons his clones to him, becoming Angeal Penance, all the while his sorry excuse for a father Hollander is desperate not to see his precious G Cells destroyed. Angeal faces off with Zack, and of course is defeated. He tells Zack that "You've done well. I leave the rest up to you", handing the hilt of the Buster Sword to Zack. For the last time in life, he bids Zack "Never forget your pride" and takes his last breathe...

Never forget the miracle it took to reach this place

This had to be hard. Angeal knew what needed to be done, and if it had to be done, there was one person he could trust to do it. He needed Zack to strong enough to help him do this without faltering. He had to have known how much pain this would cause Zack though. To Zack, Angeal was best friend, probably a second father to him (or an older brother), someone he looked up to and respected a great deal. And now he was being asked by his person, to take the same training taught to him use it to kill his mentor. Who knows how many times Zack spent in Aeris church, broken down and sobbing over the loss of Angeal, made even more personal knowing that he was the one who killed him.
