Family History. Much can be said for Aeris, however this is a Crisis Core shrine, and Aeris' story is revealed in FFVII, Crisis Core only hints at her background. Aeris was born of Professor Gast and Ilfana, the last surviving Cetra. Though she was meant as a test subject, she and Gast fell in love, and he dies trying to protect her and the infant Aeris from Shinra troops trying to take them away in Icicle Inn. Aeris and her mother spend some time being researched on, until Ilfana manages to escape. The exodus proves fatal for Ilfana, who makes it to the slums and asks Elymra to care for Aeris.

Voice. Aeris is able to hear the voices contained in the Lifestream. Living in the slums, she maintains a small flower garden in the an abandoned and decrepit church, as well as in Elmyra's yard. These are the only places flowers grow in the slum

The Boy Who Fell from the Sky. Aeris meets Zack, as he falls the the ceiling of her church and into her garden. From then on the two become friends. Zack asks Aeris out on a date, and it is during the date Zack buys her signature pink hair ribbon. In the playground, she tells Zack of her fear of SOLDIERs and the open sky, as the sky cannot be seen under the plates of Midgar overhanging the slums below. Zack reveals he is a member of SOLDIER and his eyes glow from Mako. Zack promises he will take her out of the slums to see the sky some day. After this, Aeris seems more comfortable around him.

How the Flower Girl Came to Be. It is during their last meeting before Zack is sent off to Nibelheim, that Zack suggest she sell her flowers. He gathers parts to make her a carriage to place the flowers in. It is through Tseng that Zack learns that Aeris is important, that she is the last Cetra, and is being closely monitored by the Turks. Knowing Zack will be gone a while, Aeris tell him she has 23 wishes, but knowing Zack will forget them, she tells him only one: to be able to meet Zack again. He asks Tseng to look after Aeris, and asks the Angeal A-Griffin copy to do the same.

Letters: Zack ends up in Nibelheim for five years, during that time, she calls him once, before the incident, and after, writes him 89 letters. Only one reaches him, by means of the Angeal clone, to let him know she will not be writing any more letters. Tseng intends to have Rude and Reno deliver the rest, but they do not reach Zack in time. When Zack dies, Aeris can feel his death in the Lifestream, and prays for him.

Who Do You Need, When you Come Undone?: Shy teenager-esque, whirlwind romance? For whatever reasons, the two have almost instantaneous chemistry. After their conversation on their first date about SOLDIER and the sky, Aeris seems quite comfortable with Zack from that point on. And Zack was very much concerned with Aeris' wellbeing. I won't go too far into detail, as I think I've made a thorough argument regarding their relationship in the pairings section.
