Friend or Foe?. Like Kunsel, Luxiere is a SOLDIER, Class 2^nd. He admires Zack, and there is a senpai/kouhai (superior/junior) relationship. Kunsel speaks to Zack in very informal Japanese, whereas Luxiere speaks to him in formal Japanese. I think this is just to prove the point they aren't that close. When Shinra SOLDIERS are put on alert of the escaped subjects, Luxiere sends Zack a message saying that The person who catches the specimens will go up in rank; if Luxiere is the one to bring Zack in, he will be promoted to Class 1^st. He claims he will use his higher rank to help Zack, but that's a pretty fishy thing to 'say'.
